Mike Truax is president of Toyota Auto Body California, Inc. (TABC), located in Long Beach. Established in 1972, TABC represents Toyota’s first North American manufacturing operation and produces sheet metal and aluminum components and weld sub-assemblies for Toyota’s North American truck manufacturing facilities and Tesla Motors, along with catalytic converters and numerous past model service parts for Toyota Motor Sales, U.S.A.
Truax previously was with Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA), located in Erlanger, KY, where he served in various roles including General Manager in Production Engineering for in house Plastics products. TEMA PE supports Toyota's engineering and manufacturing operations in North America.
Prior to TEMA, he spent over 27 years at New United Motors Manufacturing, Inc. (NUMMI), a joint venture of Toyota and General Motors in Fremont, California. Truax worked in various Production and Engineering assignments in Press, Plastics, Production Control and Conveyance, TPS Group, and served as general manager in the Engineering Group during his final role there.
Truax began his automotive career with a General Motors Press Plant in Indianapolis, Ind., working various roles in Production, Tooling and Industrial Engineering.
A native of Indianapolis, Truax received his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the General Motors Institute (now Kettering University), followed by a Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind.
