Takashi “Terry” Horinouchi is president of TSSC and OMDD vice president at Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing North America, Inc. (TEMA), located in Erlanger, Kentucky. TEMA supports Toyota's engineering and manufacturing operations in North America. In his current role, Horinouchi oversees day to day operations for such divisions.
TSSC is a not-for-profit corporation affiliated with TEMA which shares Toyota Production System (TPS) expertise with North American organizations with the goal of strengthening quality and efficiency and reducing lead time. Similarly, OMDD works closely with Toyota’s plants and suppliers to help streamline processes and develop TPS activities throughout North America.
Horinouchi joined Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) in 1988 as a maintenance engineer at TMC’s Myochi plant with focus in castings operations.
In 1999, he was assigned to the United States as advisor to TEMA’s supplier engineering development division to support Toyota’s supplier partners in their TPS journey. From 2009-10 Horinouchi was transferred to TMC’s OMDD group as project manager.
A native of Kagoshima, Japan, he graduated from University of Tsukuba in Tsukuba, Japan, with a degree in engineering science.
