Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc.
Yoshihisa Nagatani is president of Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas, Inc. (TMMTX), home of the Toyota Tundra and Tacoma. He has more than 28 years of experience with Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC), based in Japan.
Nagatani has extensive overseas experience providing technical and management support to 12 global Toyota production plants located in ten countries, including the Philippines, Venezuela, and South Africa. Past assignments include long-term positions at Toyota’s assembly plants in Turkey and Kentucky, where he demonstrated his manufacturing management abilities.
In Japan, Nagatani held positions in managing Toyota’s Tsutsumi and Takaoka plants. His accomplishments as the Assembly General Manager at the Takaoka plant included implementing a new assembly line and establishing a variable model/variable volume production system to better adapt to changes in market needs.
In his current role, Nagatani plans operational activities and directs the manufacturing process at Toyota Texas. He is responsible for establishing company goals, and providing every team member a safe work environment. He achieves this ideal environment through a culture that promotes and fosters a safety mindset.
Nagatani graduated from Waseda University with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He joined TMC in April 1986.
