November 4, 2008 - Las Vegas, NV - The TForce Motorsports 2007 Toyota Tundra Support 3 Vehicle will be exhibited in the Toyota booth at the 2008 SEMA show in Las Vegas, NV. The TForce MotorsportsTundra demonstrates the ability to highlight an off-the-dealership floor vehicle for use in extreme environments with only minor additions and modifications.
Toyota Tundra Support 3 began work for the team in 2007 in prelude to the 40th Baja 1000. Support 3 continues in 2008 as the team adds a second Trophy Truck to its stable. The team tasked Support 3 with duties that would include transporting spare fuel and tires in emergency situations for the no. 33 and 34 TForce Trophy Truck class vehicles. In addition, Support 3 will also be used as a tow vehicle for both the no. 33 and 34 Toyota Trophy Trucks as well as the specially prepared TForce Motorsports Pre-Runner vehicles for use before the race event to learn the long, demanding off-road courses that SCORE and BITD use for their events.
With the above duties listed in mind, TForce Motorsports made a number of readily available modifications to the vehicle suspension. The list includes a Fox Shock kit for the front and rear of the vehicle to raise the vehicle 2 ? inches in the front and 2 L inches in the rear. This modification allows the Tundra to travel readily in many of the off-road environments to support the Trophy Truck if an issue arises during the event. In addition, a leaf spring was added to the rear to compliment the lift and Fox Race Shock. As with any suspension system, the tires operate in connection with the mechanical suspension. Support 3 rolls through any event on 33-inch BFGoodrich All Terrain T/A tires on 18-inch Toyota rims.
In order to tow the vehicle, the use of the Toyota towing package was complimented with the Firestone Airbag Ride Control system. This system allows for fine adjustment to the ride height and to the ride quality in towing situations. This system enhances comfort and, more importantly, safety for the Tundra.
The interior of the unit operates as an operations center during race events. An Iridium Satellite Phone system allows the team to communicate anywhere in the world through the Iridium system. In order to track the no. 33 or no. 34 on course graphically, the IRC Live Tracking system is center mounted so that team members can view the exact location of any TForce race or support vehicle in the event.
The final enhancements include a custom fabricated stainless steel tire carrier to transport the 39-inch BFGoodrich Baja T/A race tires. Additionally, the inclusion of a Dewalt diamond plate tool box allows the team to carry additional fluids and spare to the race vehicles in any emergency situation.
TForce Motorsports, a division of Chupacabra Racing, LLC, was founded in May 2007. The team competes in the SCORE International Desert Series in the #33 Toyota Tundra Trophy truck. The state-of-the-art facilities are located in Vista, California. For more information and team updates from the Baja 1000, visit www.tforcemotorsports.com.
